The Association of Wine Museums of Spain has delivered today, hand in hand with its president, Beatrice Hernando, the Enosofía award in Valdepeñas, within the program of the XIX Symposium of Wine Museums of Spain organized by the Museo del Vino de Valdepeñas del 18 al 21 of April.
Museums Association of Spain Wine (A.M.V.E.) Enosofía awarded the prize to the person, institution or group of people whose creative or research work in the world of viticulture, constitutes a significant contribution to the cultural heritage of wine.
From the extensive curriculum of Isabel Mijares, born in Mérida and graduated in Teaching and Oenology we can highlight her extensive experience in the field of dissemination, training and communication in the world of wine. She was a woman ahead of her time., first female oenologist in Spain and first president of a Regulatory Council, the one from Valdepenas, position he held since 1982 until 1987. He has directed and taught oenology classes at different universities such as the Complutense of Madrid; She is vice president of fairs such as Alimentaria de Barcelona or the Salón Intervin; and has participated as a jury in numerous International Wine Competitions in Spain, Canada, Slovenia, Chile, Paris, Italy, Türkiye, France, Brussels, Uruguay, Argentina and China. He has also coordinated and directed the Campsa Guide to the Best Wines in Spain, and is a member of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy, Honorary Vice-President of the Spanish Association of Sumilleres, and different women's associations.
For this reason, in the person of Ms. Isabel Mijares García-Pelayo, the two basic pillars of the award come together, both the raison d'être of our association; conservation safeguarding, and dissemination of wine culture in all its manifestations, as the fulfillment of the bases of Enosofía prize; by assuming a significant contribution to the cultural heritage of wine.
